The International Conference on Human Security in West Asia (ICHSWA) was held at the University of Birjand (Iran), November 26-27, 2008. ICHSWA Objectives
- Providing the base for a comprehensive knowledge, depth and true perception of human security to social and political actors (such as the authorities, decision-makers, university professors, researchers and individuals).
- Providing areas of strategy and approaches for cooperation among countries of West Asia in the field of human security with the aim of studying the impact of soft security in this region.
- Defining the general policies towards human security (based on sub-regional action plan) and inspired by political, social and cultural realities of the countries of Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.
- Reviewing the different theoretical and practical approaches, perspectives and criticisms of human security and the pathology of this concept, taking into account the role of human development and sustainable development in the area of the cultural diversity of the societies, through respect for countries’ national sovereignty.
